Last group of shots from our field trip to the Seymour River Hatchery

We learned the place of aquatic invertebrates in the food chain.

First, we had to put on hip waders and then .... We collected the invertebrates out of the stream, where they are attached to the rocks and swimming near the bottom.

Finally, we were able to look at the invertebrates with microscopes and magnifying glasses. My favourite where the caddis fly nymphs.
