Sarah's wow! Sharing
Sarah brought in the most interesting cow skull. It was found by her grandmother on a cycling trip and still had the horns and lots of teeth on it.
Flat Stanley from Newfoundland to Florida
Caitlyn sent Flat Stanley to her cousins in Newfoundland who were just leaving on a trip to Orlando. He went to Universal Studios and the penguins at Seaworld were his favourite. He even wore his Montreal Canadiens shirt to a hockey game against the Tampa Bay Lightnings.

Emily's Cat, Macatma Ghandi
Emily brought in her lovely, long haired, calm cat. We were amazed how comfortable Ghandi was in the group. We learned about cat body language, swishing tails, alert ears and relaxed sitting.

Autumn in Loutet garden
IThe pouring rain didn't stop Farmer Gavin from working so it didn't stop us from learning how to plant garlic, doing a garden scavenger hunt and munching on fresh kale.
Randy holding up the biggest head of garlic I've ever seen.
Jason - the farm teacher explains the scavenger hunt to us.Farmer Gavin had prepared the soil and evenly spaced the holes for us to plant the garlic into.
Jennifer's genius
Jennifer started our Scientist of the Week program with a hard act to follow.
She started out with a funnel, hot water and a plastic bottle.
Jennifer was obviously an engaging speaker as she asked for predictions of what would happen if she filled the bottle with hot water, poured it out and closed it.
That bottle kept shrinking and shrinking as the air cooled and shrunk, and the outside air pressure started to press in on the bottle.
Great job, Jennifer

Save on Foods
Despite a little illness, we had a wonderful walk down to Save on Foods, a very informative presentation in the different departments and a few snacks before leaving to walk up the big hill back to school.
Did you know that some of the yogurts have the equivalent of 21 sugar cubes in them??

Pete the Beekeeper
Here is Pete Bach, Emily's dad and a local beekeeper.
Pete and Emily taught us about their bees. Pete built a beehive in their backyard. Their bees came from New Zealand in a tube! Bees are endangered, so the Bachs are helping the species and the environment by keeping some.
We learned that the female bees do the work. They're the ones that sting. They can only sting once, and then they die. The male bees don't do much, and they do not sting, so you can hold them in your hands.
Males and females only live for about forty days. The queen bee, who is the head of the hive, can live for around 3 - 4 years!
The honey that the bees produce from pollen in local flowers is delicious. The colour and flavour sometimes change, depending on the time of year.
Does your family have a hobby that you can show and share? If so, please see Ms Schnetzler or Ms Munro.
