Do Gooders

Last gifts for Nepal

We received another 100$ , so the final total being taken to Quilts for Kids is 1300$ and a rainbow loom set from the class.
Thank you all so much. The Do Good committee at school comprised of students in grades 5,6 and 7 donated a large portion of this year's funds raised to the orphanages in Nepal too. See above. The gifts were basketballs and rainbow looms.

Plants from the Loutet Garden

Students will be bringing home seeds to grow into plants from the garden today. They need to be kept moist, inside until they have grown three leaves. Then they can be hardened off, put outside for a few hours every day and after 4 days of that, planted in the garden! Hope your green thumbs are ready!!

Skype was a great success

We had 12 students here this morning to represent our class to the Nepalese school on Kathmandu. It was soooo exciting to connect with them and hear that they like the games we like and take the same subjects in school as we do

Sharing our graphic stories

We have written some amazing graphic stories., AKA comics and here we are sharing them.

Salmon stations

We were busily finishing our Salmon Stations before Spring Break.

Brook Lynn's inflating glove experiment

Brook Lynn dazzled us with her explosive vinegar and baking soda combination. She created carbon dioxide that was able to fill and blow up a latex glove. Good work Brook Lynn.

Edible Polygons

Cooking class?!
No, it's Math!  2-D shapes, to be exact.
Polygons are 2-D shapes. Polygons are flat and have straight edges.
What better way to explore polygons than with processed cheese slices and pretzels!  You can make many different triangles, for instance, just by moving or biting your food.
We also had our best Friday in terms of blue and green behaviour.
Everyone needs a refresher every once in a while. We brainstormed red (stop immediately) behaviours, yellow (warning--this could go sideways easily) behaviours, green (following instructions, working smoothly) behaviours, and blue (on task, working calmly and quietly) ones.  This is what a blue audience looks like:
We are getting REALLY good at getting quiet on first ask and holding it.  Kids, give your parents a demonstration.
Nice work, everyone!
