Visiting the HOpe Centre

Our class kindly donated money at Christmas to the HOpe Centre, our mental health part of Lions Gate Hospital.  To thank us, Sandi London from the LGH Foundation invited us to see part of the HOpe Centre.  We were in for a surprise.
Waiting out on the plaza.

The Sacred Space.  This room is available for groups or individuals. It's a calm space for contemplation, meditation, or whatever else you find soothing. The children liked how it made them feel safe.

Whoa, what's this?!

A breathing, blinking mannequin!  We were allowed into this special room where doctors and nurses in training work on simulated humans. It's sort of a mock ER.

The model is controlled by computer.

There is also a baby.

Following that excitement, LGH's mascot Seymour met us and gave us each a pen.

Thank you to mums Leanne, Ruthie, and Maija, for accompanying us.
We are so lucky to have this hospital.

Nathalie dissects a salmon for us!

We walked to Sutherland today to watch Nathalie show us all the parts of a salmon... on the inside..
Tell your family the names of the fins and the facts you remember!

Gills, swim bladder, eggs, scales,  eyes, heart, kidneys, brain...

Brave students to watch and touch all those parts.. Great biologists!!

Emily learned to hoop dance on you tube. Wow!
