Seymour Salmon Hatchery

Perfect weather for a perfect day at the hatchery.. we stsrted with finding and looking at aquatic invertebrates:

Hipwaders were an absolute must!

We had to scrub rocks and sticks and use a big net to catch them.

We became experts at recognizing the different aquatic invertebrates!

Catching up

Some exciting things we've done over the last few weeks:

An actor and the choreographer from Salmon Girl, the play we saw at the Presentation House, came for a drama and movement workshop.  We learned to use our bodies to express ourselves as though we're in water.

Director Tia from the Young Actors' Project came for our first workshop. We learned to interpret an object as something totally different (eg a banana becomes a bow) and act out a scene.  Drama lets us out of our shells.

Then last week was Reading Awareness Week. We made a tent out of our school parachute so we could read cozily with our Gr. 6 buddies.

We also got to buddy read. Jammie's make reading even more fun.
