Multicultural Day was moving. We enjoyed dances from around the world in the gym, followed by a delicious selection of foods. Most of us got very full. :). Huge thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped out in classes, as well as Ms. Dunkley, Mrs. Milner, and the Do Good committee, who made the day possible.

Ache capoeira
Today we got to watch an amazing Brazilian performance called Ache Capoeira. They are a Brazilian performance group that travels around canada, spreading awareness of Brazilian culture, and tradition through dance, music and acrobatics. The students loved all the back flips, amazing dances, wonderful music and being able to clap along. At the end, they were able to get up and try a Brazilian dance themselves!
Moon phases!
Last week we learned about the different phases of the moon, and even got to experiment with flashlights, and styrofoam balls! This is a photo of the moon, Mars, and Venus taken on Friday night! I hope everyone got to see the beautiful sight, and recorded it in their moon trackers!
Scientist of the week!
Sam kept us all on the edge of our seats, as he showed us how a single pop can, can support all of his weight when he displaces it evenly. But what happens when Taizo taps it with a pencil? He creates a weak point, and The pop can buckls beneath his feet!

Volcanic eruption!
Willow took initiative and created her very own erupting volcano! After some practice at home, and with some support from dad, she brought it into the class to share. The students were so engaged by the experiment and were very excited to see the volcano erupt.
Artists for Kids!
The class had so much fun making pots by hand at Artists for Kids! Much thought, concentration and hard work went into them. Many of the students enjoyed getting their hands mucky, seeing the kilm and using their creativity. Daylen and Anne were lovely teachers, and we can't wait to go back to see the finished clay pots!

Alex creates an explosive device
Alex delighted us with his careful planning and thoughtful changes to make a cork fly out of a bottle... And it wasn't champagne! It was the old baking soda and vinegar trick!
Jessica"s electromagnet
Jessica delighted us with electrical magic last week when she picked up metal objects with a wire that had been electrified. She wound wire around a nail and it had no magnetism , then she attached it to a battery and... presto...a magnet.
