Thank you again

After our balloon throwing and bake sale, the final donation to Quilts for Kids will be $1000. Your support is so appreciated ... By myself and Nancy, by James Hopkins who started the project and by 5 children who will go to school for one year in Kathmandu because of your kindness and generosity.

Can you find the flying balloons?

Jakob brings in Tullulah

We were so lucky to be able to see and pet such a young puppy. Jakob brought in his Labrador retriever and we all fell in love with it. Thank you Jakob.

Lucas dazzles us with the flotation of objects on different liquids

Lucas had to pour molasses, water and oil into a container and we were amazed that the objects he floated: wood , plastic and metal, floated at different levels.

We liked how clearly you asked questions of the group, Lucas.

Emily's singing glass experiment

Emily showed us that putting different amounts of water into glasses and rubbing the rims made the glasses 'sing' in different tones. She taught us about vibration and sound.

We liked your planning Emily!

Hair Growth Cheering Squad

Yes, it's time again to grow my hair out. Why??!!  Why not?!  It's a bit of a cyclical thing; I get the urge every few years. This time, I have the support of the class.
Here's a note one of the kids wrote me in December to give me strength, because some days the desire to cut it all off is pretty strong. NO HAIRDRESSERS, MS MUNRO!
Here's my Dec.12 hair to show its length. We learned how to measure it using a ruler. At the crown, it was about 6.5 cm. everyone measured their own hair too.
Now it's Jan.23 and 8 cm long at the crown. The kids were very encouraging. I can do this!
Their ruler skills are improving too, by the way. 😄🐓

Kitten Therapy

Yes, there's actually a clip on YouTube called Kitten Therapy, but we had the real thing on Friday: Rudy brought Dolce, his family's newest kitten, in for sharing.  HEAVEN!!!

Dolce is a domestic short-haired cat with grey fur all over. She was so calm and tolerant of us. We did a nice job of being calm and gentle with her, too. Dolce and Rudy clearly have a close relationship, and Rudy is a natural with animals.

Tennis has started.

Marcus, out favourite tennis pro is back, teaching basic tennis skills to all classes. His lessons are fun, fast moving and we learn a lot of tennis skills. Please remember to send runners with your child so they can participate fully.

You might like to ask your child how to teach you how to 'walk the dog'.

Emily's Flat Stanley gave us a lesson on English geography

Emily sent Flat Stanley to the British Isles and he had an amazing experience. He saw the Queen .. On a postcard, went to Salisbury Cathedral, the New Forest and Woodside Gardens where there are lots of fairies, goblins, and elves.

Emily spoke with lovely intonation and clarity!
